like the rest of tech/cloud companies, its just an IT tool. i know cloud is “hot” right now and it pays. but its IT. idk coming from aerospace background i am wondering why tf anyone would want to work in IT. same goes for GCP and AWS jobs. like sick, youre a glorified IT sys admin. im speaking generally of course, i know a cloud sales man is different from a solution architect which is different from a developer. but at the end of the day.. what? automation? IT? really? you were put on earth to do that? im genuinely curious as i am looking to move into tech; but having second thoughts. ill probably get some backlash as i work for a DoD defense contractor. but oh well.
People at GCP and AWS are just IT sysadmins? You’re not going to get backlash for your company. You’re going to get backlash because you don’t have a clue what is going on
Lol and you do? Wtf do you think the cloud is... yawn
Yeah, but you also have software engineers and data analysts and well a whole departments dedicated to these services. There are also sysadmins for the servers, but the offering isn't just a server, it's a software suite
Been over a year and I have done anything close to IT work. Full stack development the whole time. Idk where you got the idea that we’re all system administrators.
Well ya because you’re a SWE
Must not have understood your post. It didn’t specify which roles you were referring to
At OP.. yeah all the cloud jobs are worthless.... they just pay 350k and some.. but other than that.. yea IT sucks.. stay away.. actually be afraid of dem clouds...
Lol they do not pay 350
Yea for you they wont... nothing personal, it depends how many rsus you left at ur previous employer... they’ll match and then some.. but its an IT job.. stay away
Please stay away from servicenow
Why you say that? I’ve been loving it here.
Because he’s a douchebag. I hope he stays away. I love it too, mainly because of the great douchebag-less culture.
Just an update I got an offer hahaha sorry to all the hurt ServiceNow employees in this thread :)
I don't understand your question or gripe, is the problem the tool itself or working at the company? Because as a tool service now sucks, but being a SWE there is completely different than "IT"
Why does the tool itself suck? Never used it before
Might just be the version we have, but it feels super outdated
