Strictly speaking about tech innovation, how is Twitter compared against other social network companies like Facebook and LinkedIn? I have attended a lot of ML and network science talks from engineers and researchers from Facebook and LinkedIn, so I know that research is active there. But I barely meet any Twitter people at conferences.
I love Twitter but Twitter does not innovate.
FB and LI are both garbage apps/websites. If “innovation” is what got them there I’m glad Twitter isn’t doing it 😂
True lol
LI is very slow. Have a look at fast moving startups Entelo, Seekout, Hiretual etc. LI, unless becomes innovative, has to buy these startups to survive.
Like congratulations text on screen and clicking on it will show balloons? That kind innovation ?
I didn’t mention UI.
I didn't think so until I interviewed with them and learnt about their cortex teams.
Cortex?
They have a pretty strong ML initiative afaik, and call it cortex. Also their data infra is coded as deep bird. Both looked like pretty strong platforms, along with their emphasis on functional programming. They don't have that much presence in conferences because they have much much fewer engineers as well.
Cortex is fairly new so I’m sure in time you’ll see them at plenty of conferences. Twitter was focused on profitability for a while but now it’s focused on growing again. They recently started hiring a lot of researchers, especially for NLP.
Ohh time to sell stock again Will buy in teens
I’m not in ML or data science so I have no idea what’s going on here but every fb “ML” person I meet is a statistician with a fancy title. 95% of these jobs are bullshit and don’t do anything and the turtle paced innovation is done by the remaining 5%. If you are part of the minority you wouldn’t be here asking about it.
