Had on-site with them. Engineers were not friendly but they were not had. Management guys were not very polite. I got the feeling that they are full of pride etc. Have you experienced this? I have been to multiple on-sites recently and I mostly find interviewers to be very friendly, nice. I might be wrong. Please share your thoughts.
Don't discredit your own opinions. The interview is for you to judge them too.
I had a particular interviewer who was particularly intimidating. It was as if he was there to prove he knows more than me. He also frequently checked his cell phone during the interview. Other interviewers were friendly tho. Would probably never interview with them again !
Yes, I also had one who was checking phone so many times. Where did you interview? Mine was Houston.
NYC.
I recently interviewed in NYC, everybody was awesome, it was a positive experience overall
My advice in situations like these: don't demean yourself unless you are going to die from hunger (which is not gonna happen). Just forget about it. If they were very rude, I would just say: I don't like your attitude and I am going to tell a lot of people about your poor treatment of interviewees. let's stop this interview. That forces the interviewer to now have to explain himself and what happened at the interview to everyone else involved in the process. Maybe even to senior managers. But I understand it would be hard to do if you are very young. Just try to forget about it.
NYC finance is a different world. The screening process is about intimidation, because it’s a requisite skill needed to deal with your internal customers, teammates, and superiors (yes, that is the correct word). None of this fake touchy-feely BS in tech companies. Tech companies want to keep you in your place as well, but put on a sickly veneer to make it look like they care about you. But they don’t, they’ll throw you out the moment you let them down for any reason.
This is grossly exaggerated. It depends on the company.
Whatever you say, I’m guessing you’re young.
There is one possibility. There is a production issue and that manager’s team is on fire. Maybe or maybe not. Just a guess
Didn’t have the best impression myself at least for SWE.
