Starting with hiring of Google's head of AI to JPM Chase
Lol. He was the "Head of Product Management for Cloud AI Verticals". I believe that means an L7 or L7.5 PM at Cloud. That's cool and all, but not really drawing top talent away from Silicon Valley. Call me when the senior principal research scientists start leaving.
No way, Wall Street can poach few people but cannot offer the high tech salaries in general
Lol what? Wall Street is rich
You are delusional, not true for tech. Only few very niche roles in tech get high salaries in finance
Right now tech industry Overall has much higher revenue than finance and can afford to top talent. Wall Street can peach few but not majority
Is that where the prestige is? Time to move
Do not, under any circumstances, take a tech job in group IT. Business side tech could pay well and offer clear goals and job satisfaction. Group IT is where talent dies.
What is Group IT?
They don’t compensate the average developer enough to really raise the overall talent level.
I think the tech talent at Two Sigma is pretty solid. The pay is comparable to top tech firms but there are more opportunities to get promoted to higher-levels (like L6 & L7 equivalents at GOOG). In general people seem to move both ways, some going to Goog, some coming from there, and some going there and coming back to Two Sigma after a couple years (and vice versa)
In my opinion TS/HRT etc are the exception rather than the norm.
Quant funds and HFT shops rely on tech as their actual revenue generator. That's why they pay decently unlike most of finance.
