Is a 3 month break between jobs possible on H1-B?

I want to take a 3 month break to travel and spend time with family back in India. I’m also planning to quit my job soon and I’m already interviewing. My plan is to accept a job and get the I-797 approval. I’ll then quit my job and leave US immediately. I’ll come back about 2-3 weeks prior to my start date. I’ll be unemployed for less than 60 days while I am present in the US.

Can I do this and still maintain valid H1 status and will I be allowed without any hiccups at the port of entry?
