Being a junior at a top 4 CS school hasn’t helped me get past resume screens (ghosted by 90% of applications even with referrals), and I’ve heard about people getting 80% response rates after having a company like Amazon on their resume. My question is, will having Capital One on my resume get me past resume screens at FAANG, Unicorns, and Hedge Funds the same way Amazon would? Currently have an offer but am trying to decide whether to accept immediately and get a good location or stall till the deadline and try my luck at FAANG.
Is your resume written well? I got past a good number of resume screens (Microsoft, Google) with only a local company you haven't heard of on my resume + mediocre projects
I think it’s ok? I got past the resume screens for Palantir, Wish, DE Shaw, Amazon, Expedia, and Qualtrics with a random local internship. I’m getting rejected by Hedge Funds and ghosted by unicorns as well as Facebook, Apple, Google, and Microsoft (even with referrals)
See that's weird, Palantir should be more selective than say, Microsoft in theory
Send me your resume, i hire programers for Naval Warfare Information Center Pacific
Accept then reneg if you get FAANG. Timing is everything for getting the c1 location you want.
Location should not be a factor because Capital One underpays and under-appreciates anyone not in Richmond or Mclean. If you do get into those 2, its team dependent
I would agree on reneging tho because you do not want to stay unless you have to
Do not come here, unless you live in Richmond and want to be a lifer. This company is a joke. FAANG will laugh when they see that we don’t have a CTO but a CIO who does not know tech!!!

Hello! In terms of resume screening, you should check out Jobalytics (link: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/jobalytics-resume-keyword/fkiljfkkceaopbpfgfmjdnkiejaifkgd?utm_source=blind&utm_medium=social&fbclid=IwAR1OWWhbqbYPPQjze_2Du2qUCZ2UtcIjz4OXOIjaUzJJarBDqOD6uNXgFUY) -- a FREE chrome extension that can identify missing keywords from your resume based on the job description page. Most companies use application tracking systems to filter out resumes -- if you have the adequate keywords that reflect your skills and also match the job descriptions of the roles you're applying for, it could help you tremendously in the resume-screening part of job searching. Good luck!
