To Amazonians: The experience feels like it’s webview. But is it?

I work close to the mshop team. I can safely tell you it's basically a webview since the same webapps that are used for desktop connect to the mshop. Some of the features have native features cuz they are hardcoded in - it's like a browser. But you can't change the bookmarks or gate to any url.

How much doesn’t matter , the question is what components.

Most of the browsing through products , adding to cart and checking out is web based (and with a lot of mobile optimization and hand holding)

Than the navigation and skeleton of the app is native.

Not exciting imo for a mobile dev.
(I’m not working on the store app , but am familiar with the moving parts and how it’s stitched together)

  • Amazon app it’s a fucking webview. It’s very easy to spot that. Some views don’t refresh previous states and you have to force quit in order to get refreshed data.
