I have good projects and experience on my resume. A lot of recruiters reach out to me on LinkedIn too. If I apply some place online without a referral, it's almost always a reject. Are direct career applications not taken seriously?
Not pointless. I got bunch of calls by applying on websites
Me too.
Nope. Not pointless. I got mine though website application.
Just to clarify, I'm talking about mid sized companies. The bigger ones interview everyone IMO.
Not pointless
No, it’s not pointless.
My current job was through the company site. It does happen, but it's easier if you have a referral
Try to SEO your resume with respect to the job posting. Sounds stupid, but to get that call, your resume needs to actually come up when the use the search bar or "match score" filter to pick who they call from that stack of 20k+ applications...
Makes sense. Wow that'll take a lot of time though.
It feels like a waste of time sometimes, but I got a lot of interviews just applying on company sites. So I think someone does read the applications at most places.
If you have a solid resume, it's not pointless. I've gotten plenty of interviews that way.
What I can't understand is that these big companies don't reject me, in fact many skip the initial phone screen. But I just couldn't get through Dropbox or box. Heck last year I only had the HR round left with airbnb but had to say no because of an expiring deadline and I haven't heard back from them this year.
I applied to Google from their jobs website and got in, soooooo..... No it's not pointless.
Same.
Google interviews everyone. Same with lsrger companies like Amazon, Apple, Microsoft, FB. Also I prolly know 10 from each. Those aren't the problem.
