I have observed that in startup though people have their charters they care about the company and product, whereas most of the time in companies, people just care about themselves. Their perf, promo and deliverables. Even if they know they can be of help, they start new unnecessary work so they get points in design and architecture. Is it everywhere or should I change the company?
It’s easy to feel loyalty to a company when you are arms length away from leadership. As a company grows your interaction with senior leadership dwindles and you begin to lose the illusion of all being in it together as a family. The truth is companies cannot be loyal to employees. The best you can hope for is decency.
Everyone’s on their own in this world...
Even startup people are mostly interested in getting rich. Real passionate product people are like Wozniak and others who you can tell would be perfectly happy doing that work whether they are getting paid or not. You rarely see that in startups.

I mean your working at a company that can literally make you a millionaire. It’s not surprising that people are selfish.
