Getting an offer from TR in Toronto but concerned since there is a planned reduction in force (RIF) to eliminate 3200 jobs and further reduce costs by 2020. Is it safe to join them now? Glassdoor and thelayoff.com are full of posts over layoffs. Prioritise stability over TC. Don’t want to be on job hunt again in few months. Getting a job after lay-off is very stressful. TC - 130k
Based on past personal experience - TR is a complete sh*t show. Pardon my french. P.S. I worked in their NYC office for a few months; their Paris and Thailand offices are the same or worse. No personal knowledge of Canada, but I assume it is just as bad.
100% agree with quix
Are you still with TR? Good to hear from someone inside. Why do you say so? Is it that bad and lot of instability and no clarity on what’s about to happen next?
Ditto
What role/department are you joining?
Corporate
Are there are lot of challenges across departments? People were bit evasive about current situation saying that will never happen. Last few annual and quarterly reports are aggressive on cost reduction as means of growth.
layoffs make room for new hires. cost pressures and low performers. just don’t suck after you get the job.
