Depends on your performance rating and if you are already over your TC target. Most exceeds employees got additional RSUs unless their TC was top of band already.
I was exceeds and got +3.6% base increase with 0 new RSUs. Any clue what this means?
You have a target compensation. Your performance last year only impacts this year’s base, but the math is simple: In year 2022 and 2023, with the amount of stocks that are due to vest that year, how far are you under your target? That gets filled with a few stocks to make you whole. If the number of stocks you already have vesting for those years already exceed your target (taking into consideration a 15% expected stock price jump every year), then you get nothing because you’re at or exceeding what Amazon thinks you should be paid.
I wonder what will happen the first year Amazon stock doesn’t +15%
They will likely start awarding stocks for year 0 in addition to +1 and +2. The larger effect is likely attrition of top talent. An L6 at Amazon could have competed with an E6 at Facebook due to the stock boom, but now the 350-400 isn’t going to cut it for the same shit-tier level of WLB.
Amazon vesting is worse than you think due to how target comp works. Stock appreciation isn’t your bonus, it counts towards your target comp. You get all the risk and less upside. If you amazon stock does well and you get promoted, you’re probably not going to get a raise since the backloaded last two years of equity helps you reach your target. Refreshers increase. Only reason Amazon was lucrative in the past was because stock growth was obscene. Unless Amazon can double in size (which it might) in the next 5 years, it’s a pretty bad risk adjusted compensation. I’ve never interviewed at Amazon for this reason. The math doesn’t add up for high-performing people early in their careers. The math is ok for L6+ who are all in on equity.
Increment I understand, but why 0 bonus? Isn’t that the part of TC?
If it's your first year yeah nada
