I am trying to decide between a couple of Sequoia start ups. Is it okay to email the partners to ask them which they believe is more promising?
Some VC firms do like to talk to their future employees but I highly doubt they would recommend one over the other especially to a nobody technically unless you are highly skilled and talented. My $.02
If you cold e-mail partners they won’t reply But if you call your upper crust buddies from boarding school who are now all VC partners yes Just look back at your lacrosse team picture and see who’s at sequoia
how'd you know i went to boarding school?
Def reach out to the most junior analysts. If they’re early stage, they will very likely talk, especially if you’re a good fit. VCs want to help their portfolio cos and hiring is tough
Tell them you are willing to work for free and you will get a reply
I wouldn’t bother. If they’re a portfolio company, they aren’t going to tell you anything insightful or nothing different on their website.. No chance you get something like “oh, don’t join X, we really regret our investment there”.
They won’t disparage any company via email, that’s just bad form. Would try to get a warm intro and a call
You can try. I’d be shocked if any replied.
