I got an offer for a finance role at Amazon, but the org this team supports is losing money (they told me in the interview). They think they can promote me in a year or two depending on my performance, but they think the breakeven point of the business is far and uncertain. I haven't worked in finance since before grad school, so going back to finance and at Amazon makes me a bit nervous, especially if the business is losing money. I feel confident about the job since it is somewhat similar to my past experience, but I got a bit skeptical about being "promoted" Snap is losing money and still promotes people every now and then. I wonder if Amazon still promotes people even if the business is losing money? Any feedback? pls no trolls @Amazon #amazon Tc <$200k non tech
Amazon is into the long game, they were barely profitable from 1998 to 2015. I would be more concerned about what they define as ‘performance’.
They can float on AWS money. Bezos has a plan, trust in the almighty Bezos.
Ok losing for losing maybe I have a better chance at Amazon. I'm leaving this politics shithole. Sayonara, malditos lol

What finance team makes money - they are all cost centers. I guess you mean finance supporting a business line that loses money.. Well don't be shocked but doesn't most retail still lose money so unless you are in AWS that's normal.
You should know that some finance teams actually make money, like a trading desk at BofA ML. I said no trolls.
