Is it possible to get a PM job at FANG without a referral?

Background: 3 years of PM experience, PhD in Robotics, previously data analyst. Taught Product at General Assembly, if that matters.

No matter how many times I apply to FANG (in multiple locations around the world, by the way), I keep getting rejected. Which makes me think that it's a dead end without a referral.

    Just curious, if you have a PHD IN Robotics, why are you looking for a PM gig ? Seems like a step down.

      I'm not looking for a PM gig. I'm looking for a more exciting PM gig. Been a PM for the past 3 years, and a data analyst before that.

      And the deal for me was that after I've spent a lifetime in the academe, I just want to move into a completely new field ;)

    It is possible to get any job with out a referral. Also referral doesn't guarantee interview. It just means someone will take a look at your resume. If it is good, you go through the loop.

      You're implying that my CV isn't good, yet it generates enough interest when I apply to most companies. (Got a healthy interview rate.) Can't complain about that, tbh 😬

      Talking specifically about FANG here. Never been able to land a call with them.
