Is it safe to do sports betting online in Washington state?

Jul 21, 2018 5 Comments

I am a foreigner on a work visa but considered a resident alien by IRS.

I did a few research online and it seems that sports betting is a felony in Washington state, but still I wonder if it is safe to do it as I need some entertainment and another way to make lucky money.

Currently there are a few websites located outside US that support deposit/cash-out by cryptocurrencies. I plan to buy some bitcoin in Coinbase and send it to the betting site.

How likely will I get caught? I am not really sure how bitcoin works and how government orgs come into play in this situation.

Is my internet provider able to find out that I visit certain betting sites?

Thoughts? Anybody doing something similar?

Don't do it until you get citizenship. Trump era ICE deport people for much pettier offenses.

Not likely to be caught as nobody bothers to investigate transactions for small accounts (I believe the rule of thumb is under 10k)

If you're looking for legal thrills try the stock market. Stock options move faster than quarterbacks.

No chances. Go ahead. Use a VPN for some peace of mind if you are still paranoid. Do check on reddit if those sites are legit too before you begin all this.
