mostly just pass protos around, hangout at the food and laundry sites on campus, write like 10 lines of code a week, collect their sweet tc and spend most of their time on random non-work related shit like learning to fly or trim their dog’s toe nails? Fuck sign me up fam, Apple is killing me

NW required for FU money with no kids, house paid off and 100k expenses per year?
Confirmed. There is rarely any pressure working at Google. Rest and vest if u do not want promotion.
Even though there are objectives based long perf cycles?
There are only quarterly okrs
I have a SWE friend at Google who barely writes code. Dude works like 6hrs a day but ends up watching YouTube most of the time
wow, going out of his way to watch out for bugs and ops in production in a completely different team and product area for hours. What a dedicated worker
Maybe he works for the YouTube team 🤪
Does fb also do protos? Protos is life
Dude im in gcp and for me this is sooooooooooo not true. I wish lol
Is there any cloud team anywhere that isn't getting legit killed by work? I mean ... Aren't about 95% of Amazon horror stories - that are NOT from the warehouses - all from AWS?
The amount of time I let me manager know that though our team is excelling we are under staffed. Legit thinking about switching out after this perfect cycle.
😂😂😂😂
Plot twist: he want to get into other company
OP: what org are you in Apple? How is your WLB?
Although no company should have employees working 80 hrs but the stories about Google are on the opposite spectrum. How do you keep innovating and competing when your employees are supposedly working less than a quarter of the industry average. Is it because of a trust fund analogy where they made smart bets early on so now they can afford to take it easy and profit off of new ventures like Nest, Waymo?
Because we ride on the 5% exceptional smart engineers here. They get pay a ton though.
They have like 140K+ employees… even if 1% are the best in their fields they are still ahead of 99.99999% of all other companies
Can confirm
Not at Google X. Interesting projects and lots of work. But it's worth it.
What was the last successful project from X again?
