I am currently in India, final year CS student. I know, the cost is too high for doing a MS in good University. Tell me about approx cost for Indian. Also do people get top tech companies easily than in India? Should I go US or get a job in India at a good tech? Can I recover my Tuition fees, etc. in short time after getting job at top tech?
Tuition and living expenses will set you back $100K. If you get into a top 10 engineering school, you can pay off your loan in 2 years if you get a job in tech. That’s how long you can stay and work if you don’t get picked for a H1B.
No you don’t need to be in top 10 to secure a good enough job to pay off 100k in 2 years. Top 25 should do it easily, especially in CS.
See top 20 colleges have 100% tution waivers like GaTech, aim for them. Also UFL is very cheap
Do that or you’ll regret it for life if you do MS in india(ask Me how I know)
Current Immigration issue is against you. Currently US Economy & job market is also doing downhill for next 2-3 years. Work in India till 2021-22 & then go to US for masters.
Work for few years, learn the industry, make some money and understand what masters will help you and then do your masters.
If you have plans of doing MS, do it now and do not join any company in India, even if you do not get into great college do not worry, select University giving first preference to location. I would suggest not to join any company in India and do Leetcode instead before coming to US. Paying off loan is not difficult. People would advise you to work for few years in India before coming to US but I would say just 'Leetcode' and come. Working hard in US will give you a lot more as compared to same amount of effort back in India, especially when you are just out of college.
I got into below average school in US for Masters.... Did internship 4 months in below average pay.... Got a full time job And cleared 70k usd loan in 1.5 yrs I had no job related experience from India.... But most importantly I did lots of certifications from India which gave me huge advantage Go for it...
I'd say if immigration is not an issue do your masters in a top European school. It's harder but way cheaper At least 25-60k cheaper. Then go back to India and get a job that can possibly transfer you to the US
Oh, yes. Try some of the European colleges. And then try to land a job there. If I could go back in time, I would study somewhere in Europe. The quality of life is something else there.
US is very easy compared to India. Go for it, they expenses will be covered with the lucrative internship and your first year pay
Also chicks love Indian guys who do MS in US. They will be like, ‘hey Sridar, you doing MS? Wowww’ Go for it op!
