Cheaper housing will be too basic in the Bay area.

Super high humidity in summer. Risk of floods/hurricanes.

VMware TeamThanos Apr 3, 2018

Risk of earthquake looming the Bay area.

I would recommend visiting with the family. Having a look around. Also do the same for Dallas and Austin and anywhere else you’re considering. Take your time. Figure out what’s best on paper but mostly how you really feel about an area. Visit during the bad season too to know what you’re up against. Texas just isn’t for me personally. But I gave it a long hard look.
