Is loyalty rewarded, I’ve been with the same company for 7 years and honestly became comfortable and haven’t interviewed much elsewhere until the last 2 years. New hires in Engineering make 20% less than I do. I’ve known I was underpaid compared to market and didn’t push to move until last 2 years and nearly every week I’m talking to recruiters. On the flip side, I see people who are boosting their TC moving company to company year by year. Do companies care about loyalty or just getting the best talent for a year understanding that they may leave?#tech #tech #tech #productmanagement

HOWEVER, what you must keep in mind is that happiness is important. This thread is full of sad people chasing the highest TC. If you like what you have been doing for 7 years and if it provides you great balance in life, you do not have to change for the sake of changing.
first company I worked for, I worked there for 6 years. I was underpaid compared to someone who got hired 4 years after me. I knew it but when I actually heard the number difference it was shocking.
asked for promotion, got denied, so I quit and flew to backpack around Europe instead and then got a better higher paying job.
fuck loyalty, it's insane how much companies take advantage of you for being loyal.
