Never received personal training before, and am debating whether I should just suck it up and work out on my own, or receive PT. What are the pros and cons of paying for PT?
If your BMI is over 30, yes
Ask yourselves 3 things. 1) you don’t know how to work out (ex proper technique and need someone to show you how to do things correctly for form and reduce injury risk) 2)you have not yet been able to hold yourself accountable to do it and have tried unsuccessfully to keep it up before and genuinely want to be in better shape 3) can afford it for an on going period of time, if you can’t keep it up for at least 6 months 3x a week you won’t see the results you want and will feel like you wasted your money. You need to build a new habit. That takes time. If in agreement with any (ideally all 3 of these) then do it.
I paid for PT for nearly a year because I needed some reason to actually go and learn. Eventually I enjoyed it enough that when I moved I was able to keep doing it myself. Been doing it for 2.5 years now.
Try female PT. My friend is now dating his PT.
Worth it if you lack motivation but finding the right trainer that genuinely cares about you is difficult.
Like anything in life, it’s easier to not slack if there’s someone holding you accountable.
