Is relocating to SF for a nontech role at a tech company insane?

I have a BA, 5 years experience at Amazon and other startups in Seattle doing analytics for product and project mgmt. At this point I’m a self taught generalist. current TC is 80k. I’m ready for a change and warmer weather. Would I have a significantly lower COL in SF than I do in Seattle?

You would have higher cost of living in SF than Seattle. You’d have lower net profit in SF if you started with the same TC. I think you asked the question backwards

I’d negotiate a higher TC to account for COL. Do you think it’s doable? I don’t know anyone in SF who makes less than 300k or isn’t bankrolled by their parents still, so I am having a hard time understanding what my life could be like

Moving to SF with TC 80k. You will only be able to live as a student. Hope you like student life. You will need TC 200k to live an ok life in SF.

You know I sound crazy but I would move to Colorado

I’m afraid of red states.

CO is now slowly turning purple/blue and Denver is quite progressive! col is of course quite nice too. I live in a smaller city and I love the vibe; I would appreciate CO weather lol
