Our cubicle configuration has us sitting in groups of 4, with our backs to the center of the square. My counterpart deals with different regions which aren’t as busy as my regions. Because of this, she’s often bored, scrolling through Facebook on her computer or texting on her phone. These things don’t bother me... but when she lays her head down on her desk for a nap I can’t help but think how unprofessional she is being! She typically sleeps close to lunch time, but she has gone down for a nap as early as 10:30am. I want to think that you should be able to do as you wish with your lunch hour, but is sleeping at your desk, while your co-workers and managers who sit near you are busy, really acceptable??? What your take on this, and should I say anything to our Manager or HR?
As long as she is delivering her responsibilities you should not bother. May be she is sick or the baby does not let her sleep at night, many other possibilities .
Good advice. Her responsibilities are minimal at this time, so she is indeed delivering. I just feel it’s unprofessional to sleep at your desk. But you’re right, she’s not currently slacking in her job so I see your point to leave her alone.
dude it’s absolutely fine for a nap specially when back 2 back meeting, work your brain needs that quick nap to rejuvenate and bring all the energy for next task for the day
She doesn’t attend meetings. She’s an admin who has 1/4 of the work that I do. She spends the majority of her time on Facebook or on her phone.
If her sleeping adds to your workload, then you have cause for concern. Otherwise leave her alone.
if she reports you then it’s upto you if not then leave it as is, none of your business her supervisor/manager should be aware of her performance n next steps to be taken
I probably wouldn't do it because of people like you, but as long as she delivers, what does it hurt?
There is nothing unprofessional abt it. Lady is just keeping her eyes closed and taking rest. Honestly ... You are too harsh on yourself, you are expecting a lot from professional behavior . Just relax , stay calm and shhhh let her sleep :)
None of your business unless it impacts your work.
Get her fired that is total BS. Sounds like the unraveling of the first meltdown. She should be a yoga assistant.
If she isn't snoring and disturbing you, don't care buddy
What’s your problem. Just let her sleep.
