Who are these retards asking for dictatorship in India?
Hello Blind, I have been at Amazon retail for 3.5 years. I have been working on the L6-scope work for a year now and my manager believes the remaining gaps to L6 can be closed in the next 1.5-2 years by delivering more projects to fill up the gaps. Is this worth the effort to get promoted and join G/FB at E5 level in 2 years or so? Or is it better to prepare interviews and try to nail E5 interviews or get high E4 offers? - is the E5 bar at these other FAANG companies very high and do they have some strict requirement on the YOE? Looking forward to your sincere responses! TC: 220K
I know a 2017 grad who got L6 in India in Q3 2021. Whatever your manager is telling is just a game to squeeze work out of you.
I can DM his alias too
Definitely not worth it. Also, I feel you're selling yourself too short. Amazon is bad at a lot of things, but not when it comes to judging levels. If your manager agrees you are doing L6 scope work, you definitely have a shot at L6 outside. Imo the bar and scope for senior/L6 is the highest in Amazon relative to other companies. FB in particular has level inflation at the lower levels based on what I've seen on blind. You should be able to crack E5 for sure, you can boomerang back at L6 with 500k+ TC after 2 years. Edit: @OP what's your total yoe ? I just noticed you mentioned 3.5 in Amazon, if it's your total yoe then it'll be difficult to switch to senior outside.
3.5 YOE.. I heard various things about the YOE requirement for a senior role at other companies
Getting a Google/Facebook L5/E5 offer seems very unlikely with 3 YOE. Typically it's easier to get promoted internally than to hop up levels. Many companies won't consider your for senior interviews until you have 5/6 YoE anyway. It doesn't hurt to jump laterally now and get paid more, though.
He can definitely apply for FB E5 but G L5 will be a lot trickier to setup that loop unless the recruiter agrees with it
Never ever trust an Amazon manager about promo timelines. They’re experts at dangling carrots to stop people from leaving
They're showing you the carrot
I left AMZN for an L+1 and I think staying until the 5 yoe really helped get me those senior offers. I know friends smarter than me that had a hard time last year when they were at 4 yoe and leaving G as an L4 (SDE II) to get a L+1 offer.
Imterview for E5 now, especially with that low TC for L5. External Amazon L5 hires are apparently getting 300k+ now
