Is there a chance a Sr SWE at MS will get a E7/L7 at FB/Goog?

Assuming out of the world interview performance and yoe > 15 can one be submitted to HC for a E7/L7 (Staff/Sr Staff) IC role at FB/G? If not, how do G/FB know the scope of the current role at MS. I could have been the one who created a v1 service and launched being a Sr SWE. Wondering what blind thinks 🤔

Yes

would be very surprised if you pull it off. 2 levels bump into GOOG is just unthinkable to me

On the contrary I've seen multiple people around me come in as L4 with 10+ years of experience

No way -- you got to be at least a principal to be considered for > l6 and partner for l7 ..we know very well about msft levels - seniors esp l63s are many times down-leveled to l4 -- so l7 is just unthinkable for msft seniors your 15 yoe dont mean anything if you're still stuck at a senior band in msft. Your current level speaks louder than your yoe or all the beautiful adjectives you use to describe yourself in the resume. You couldnt even prove yourself in msft to jump to a principal level with that many yoe -- and you want to be hired at a partner-equivalent level in goog smh

Fair enough. G knows about MS levels. How does it map to levels in lesser *tech* known companies. Say like principal engineer at CapitalOne or a VP at Bank of America (VP is actually an hyper-inflated team lead)

You'll be slotted for L5. If you do well, you'll get an offer. If you do ok-ok you'll be rejected instead of down-level to L4.

Senior you mean 63 or 64? I’ve seen those come in as level 4, mostly level 5

Senior MSFT matches up with 4 or 5 at Google. Principal MSFT is 5,6,7 goog
