I'm new in the US, but in previous jobs in the industry I've always been a member of a union, and I would like to be so again. Just in case I get into trouble with HR or whatever. I saw the Google employees had created a union, and I wonder if there's a similar support network at Facebook? Somewhere employees can support each other outside the control of management.
No, you just leave Fb
You can’t make ends meet with Facebook TC?
For example, in the past if my company has asked me to sign some contract, I've sent it to the union to have a lawyer check I'm not being screwed somehow. I guess I could pay my own lawyer, but I don't want to spend a lot of time on it, and I'm just as afraid of getting screwed by some conning lawyer.
Google has a union?
and I don't know about that lolol
Seems like the only thing the Google union does is get in fights with Google about whether its members are being retaliated against for being in the union. I don’t see it improving working conditions (probably because Google employees have pretty good working conditions already).
I don't know them from the inside. Just thought it sounded like a good idea.
Definitely not an engineer
Google union is a bullshit group. Do your due diligence before assuming it's a traditional union with any actual power
For example prosa.dk/english
Probably most countries in Europe.
We call it “Blind”
That's nice and it clearly shows there's a need for such a forum. I would just like if we didn't need to hide (anonymization) and could support each other more officially if we got in, say, a legal dispute with the company.
