Who was that Google eng that got fired for a non-mainstream analysis on the reason for gender inequality in engineering? Yeah, I'd say there's an intolerant attitude towards non-woke views at software tech. It's much more balanced all other tech areas. Basically, the less costly a mistake in the tech, or the more one can adopt a "move fast and break things" mentality in their engineering role, the more far left that tech company will be. The more costly a mistake, the more conservative the engineers will be. Thus, one should always and everywhere, expect software engineers to be the most woke and hipster of all the engineering types.

There is less tolerance for crass viewpoints or comments about race, gender, sexual orientation, etc. and more tolerance for expressing positivity about the same. Some might view that as an anti-conservative bias.
A: Lets setup a hiring event to only hire POC. B: shouldn't everybody have equal access to this job position? *B is cancelled for non woke views* C who was over looking this, is now afraid to speak his/her/their mind in fear of being cancelled. Such inclusivity Such positivity much wow.
This is exactly what I’m talking about. It seems like a valid conversation to some, but making up a contrived situation like this and bringing it up outside of the context of actual hiring practices is crass and unnecessary. If this conversation actually happened in tech hiring, then all parties need training in diversity hiring. A is trying to only hire POC and not trying to increase recruiting from diverse sources. B’s response denies that POC might not have equal access to the job. C is questioning why they took a job in a place that hired A and B.

It is at Boeing too, but relatively speaking not too bad. I’ve heard support for fixing racial injustice but nothing supporting BLM and no position on “peaceful” protests. Hear people alluding that they hope Trump gets voted in again if nothing else than for business. Lots of preaching to wear masks but we’ve also had people going in the whole time throughout COVId shutdowns and it’s mostly to cover their asses. Decent amount of young engineers are liberal, but that could be just bc they bring up their stances/politics more at work

Not really. There’s an anti-anti-science bias in tech for sure. But fiscally speaking, we’re mostly on the same page. It depends on what you mean by conservative I guess. Nowadays, everything short of shooting hobos for sports is considered radical liberal so idk
