Wondering if anyone at Workday knows if Software application engineer is a good position? The role uses proprietary language and wanted to see if it would be good for future opportunities. TC: 180k
Feel free to DM! Workdays solid overall. Good company, very very good Wlb, been getting interviews at every company I’ve applied
If you have a CS degree and other choices, don’t go there! Read the negative feedbacks on Glassdoor for some guidance. Free free to DM if you want to chat!
Workday app dev uses xpresso I think which is a drag and drop object oriented interface. It will hinder your career growth and you’ll get out of touch with normal software engineering practices. Unless you’re planning to become an app dev manager at Workday I’d avoid it
It’s not drag and drop lol. You use a Ui but you still need strong OOD. It really strengthens your knowledge of OOD Patterns and relationships. It’s also very easy to transfer out of apps, I’ve seen many go to FANG from workday. Also most apps teams are switching to do full stack react and espresso and Java so it’s not espresso full time.
Also most companies don’t give 2 shits what you’re doing at your past job so I wouldn’t sweat it. Workday is good for opening doors.
