Google CFO confirms 'large-scale' layoffs (Apr 17)
Keep hearing this everywhere and want to know Blind's opinion. Side poll for the comments: If you believe that someone's first startup will fail... Would you recommend that someone to start up a less impactful 'trial' business to increase the odds of their ideal business's success? I feel like I have the next Uber, Airbnb, ect (eyerolls please) and I'm wondering if I should get a feel for the startup process with a simpler idea, before jumping in headfirst with this golden idea and risk running it into the ground as my first startup
Mine did
Yes, with a 99.999% probability
Work on your golden idea and let the first couple attempts fail and keep pivoting until it succeeds
Yes, but if you manage your risks / hedge your bets, you might just be the one that succeed.
Most businesses fail. There odds of the second business aren’t dependent upon the first business.
You shouldn’t create a startup for the sake of building experience. Do it because you have a solid vision and are passionate about the idea
