Public transport is more environment friendly than owning electric cars fwiw
Electric isn’t convenient for renters.
Public transport? Lol. Gtfo. Dont bring that euro trash here. Imagine sitting in a bus with a bunch of strangers half of them lunatics, esp after covid. 🤮
"strangers half of them lunatics" That's an america thing
Just sayin’ to the pretentious douchebags out there when they make claims about efficiency and saving the environment. By public transport I also meant using the company shuttle for your daily commute, and scoop/uber/uberpool elsewhere, leasing a car for long trips. Imagine not being worried about parking, insurance and maintenance all while being productive during your commute
Already have a plug-in hybrid. 2020 car for 20k , no fuel cost for 90% of the miles I put. Loving it
I’ll get a Tesla next. Don’t give a shit about going EV though
Even when QC concerns?
They're kinda over reported because they're the new fledgling company that people like to shit on (or have vested interest in trying to take them down a peg) Every auto manufacturer has had quality issues on new lines, every one of them has had to do huge recalls. They don't make the news because no one cares. Tesla issues? Zomg quick, plaster it everywhere! A couple caught on fire! 8 o'clock news coverage material. Meanwhile there's literally a hundred gas car fires that don't even get mentioned on the local news.
Nah. The infrastructure needs work. Nobody except Tesla is taking it seriously.
Got an electric now and I love it
I just want Tesla to release a sports coupe trim for the S or 3 before I buy one
Just wait for the new roadster. No one is buying cars. We're lucky they even have an interest in sedans at this point. CUVs are taking over the world. Also, Rivian wanting a Tesla is funny to me.
waiting for a $250k sports coupe is not a good recommendation
Having a plugin hybrid I would not even take a free electric car if I was offered least bought one. And I have a free charger in the building where I live too. It's just too inconvenient to keep the car always charged. Unless the range and/or charging speed improve by an order of magnitude I don't see myself owning an EV.
How inconvenient is it to plug in your car when you get home? I guess if you don't have a garage it would be difficult. But for people with a garage, electric cars would be more convenient... no more gas stations and it's always a full "tank" in the morning. EVs only don't make sense for people without a convenient home charger or who regularly travel long distances
I don't see how the garage is going to help when you travel, for example. Even if you don't, the home charger is not going to be fast and might not be able to charge full overnight. It's fine for commuting to work only.
Uber and Lyft are not public transportation... from the perspective of climate change, they are no better than privately owned cars if not worse. If there was an electric only uber, however, that would be something
Ridesharing like Scoop, Uberpool isn’t too, but it’s close to it. I wouldn’t say they are “no worse” if one can avoid the carbon footprint of a manufacturing a car all together. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/green-living-blog/2010/sep/23/carbon-footprint-new-car
The carbon footprint of making a car is surpassed by only a few years of combustion engine driving. Most of a car's carbon footprint comes from burning fossil fuels to make it run. Therefore reducing the number of miles driven in gas cars is the best way to reduce transportation emissions
Waiting for better infrastructure before deciding. Maybe a plug in hybrid.
Or even a Regular hybrid. My suv gives 40mpg.
