I started prep for interviews 8 months back. Gave my 100% for a Google interview which happened 6 months back in Dublin. Got rejected because I used pointer instead of reference variable in the interview and got the feedback that my memory management skills are not good(Yep! Even I was shocked :p) I gave a few HFTs interviews in India and got offer for: Tower Research Capital Graviton LLC Morgan Stanley Goldman Sachs Did some research on blind and found out that HFT is probably not the best place to be if you are a software engineer. You'll always be second class citizens to quants. Left Microsoft and joined a startup in London. Initially felt good but the work is mostly related to maintenance and the learning was limited too. I started interviewing again. Solved some leetcode, did educative.io, read engineering blogs and just gave up everything specially in the past 2 months. The whole preparation paid off and was able to get the following offers: Palantir London(FDSE) Facebook London(E4) Uber Amstredam (SDE 1) AWS (L4) Bloomberg London(Senior Software Engineer) What I want people to take away from my experience is that don't play the interview play the interviewer. While preparing just think how you would ask this question and what you'll take for an answer. And most importantly don't give up. It all works out in the end if you hang in there and be honest to yourself. I would like to thank the Blind Community for there constant support during every stage of preparation and would continue to support this community from my end in the future :) Edit:. Offer for Facebook, Palantir and Uber still under negotiating. Bloomberg TC : £90k Amazon: £68: 49 + 18 joining + 1k stock (didn't even bother matching my current TC) Leetcode: 500+ YOE: 2.5 years TC: £75 k
Congratulations! Thanks for sharing the story and hope. How are your offer numbers looking like?
What are the offer numbers from each of the company? That's how you thank the blind community 😜
Congrats on the offers. Which one are you taking?
Awesome! Let us know how the negotiations resolve.
Cool. Great job op. Now focus on picking the job that gives the best internal transfer options to US and move here. Your TC will be low in Europe. Fb e4 obviously stands out the most from levels, But can't say much about wlb.
If TC matters leave Amazon out. But 85k GBP is around the top end of their SDE1 comp range AFAIK. Push for 100k+ at Palantir and Facebook.
Don't join Amazon as L4. L5 will be atleast 1.5 years out if not more.
Yes I just paid the price and jumped the ship out
How much is palantir offer?
Congrats. I chose Bloomberg over Palantir and Amazon a year ago, dm me if you have some questions before making your choice.
Hi! I am a new grad, and have upcoming onsites at Bloomberg and Facebook.. Had some questions about that. May I dm you?
If you don’t mind me asking, why did you to chose Bloomberg over Palantir and Amazon? Was your decision entirely based on compensation or something else? I’m considering interviewing so just curious to know. Also, are you happy with the decision you made?
I would like to speak to you man :)
