I've seen a few posts saying Amazon offers are nonnegotiable, especially with new grads. Received an offer for AWS in a cleared position in Virginia as a new grad, their initial offer was the default new grad offer: $112K base, $26K/$22K bonus in year 1/2, $80K in RSUs over four years (5%/15%/40%/40%). Recruiter said they couldn't negotiate, but pressed with having other offers, and I mean it took more than a few replies back and forth. Amazon says they won't negotiate on new hires, but it's possible if you have leverage from other offers. Negotiated rate: Base: $117K Sign-on Bonus (Yr 1/2): $40K/$25K RSUs over 4 years (5%/15%/40%/40%): $90K Clearance bonus: $20K ($45K w/ on-call) Year 1 TC: $181,500 ($206,500); 4 year avg. TC: $175,750 ($200,750)
Clearance!!
If you are on-call for 7 days or more in a quarter, then you get an additional bonus of $11,250. Do it for all four quarters in a year: $45k.
From what I understand, it's only with a clearance.
Thats crazy. I got an offer for AWS in VA too, but I was just placed there from the general Amazon app and making $30-40k less
It seems like many who weren't cleared were in the process of getting there, so it should be possible to switch a bit after you get started.
i cry
