One of my friends at ByteDance was put into PIP. She is very anxious. For those working at ByteDance, is there any suggestion? Thanks

Pip is nothing. Life and health is more important. She can get work easily in this market. In two years she will not remember any of this.

Aren't you having direct 1:1 conversations with them about their performance?

People shouldn't need to 'take hints' about this stuff, they should be directly told things in 1:1 like 'I've noticed you commit much less code than others your level in the team, I want to help unblock you but we need to see some uplift here as you're not currently meeting expectations'.

Not sure what team TickleTok is on. But for my performance review, my manager has straight up lied, misrepresented facts and exaggerated minutest things where my manager had changed my graph from line to bar and removed dates from Y axis as an example in my perf for justifying negative review. Many of my peers had left very positive comment on my perf so even though I couldn't see what my peers rated me but I saw that they left positive comment about working with them and inspite of it I got negative rating.
The problem with Tiktok is also that there are too many new managers who are incompetent and unable to have simple communication or providing support or coaching.
@TickleTok If your team is really so bad then why dont you just quit or are you also just too dumb to get a job outside?

  • Ive never heard of pip at bytedance. Does the manager have it out for her? Im pretty sure she can still switch teams even with a low perf review
