Microsoft WebXT vs Azure core teams

Please help me choose between the 2 teams at microsoft. WebXT backend team vs Azure core platform team.
From talking to the mgrs, it sounded like webxt had a lot of maintanence work but azure team was building ground up
L61 offer.
can u please rate the two orgs/teams from these perspectives:
1. WLB
2. Career growth
3. Compensation

  • In Azure you will live to work. They're competing with AWS, nobody gets to rest. WLB is non existent but the career growth will be fast and furious.

    WebXT is kinda a mess, Microsoft Blind has so much hate for that Org but you'll get paid the same as the Azure boys working 90hrs a week and will be mostly chilling. Career velocity won't be good though because nobody gives af about WebXT.

    So it depends on where you are in your career and what you want.

    • 90 hrs a week was an exaggeration so I apologize if that scared you at all.

      But if you're on an Azure team I'll say it like this, you can't log off at 5PM and just go live your life. Culturally everyone is going to expect you're available and responsive to messages daily after hours, and certainly on the weekends.

      So if you got to an Azure team you just got to be ready. Can't be there with an expectation that you'll have good WLB, know what you're getting into and you'll be alright.
