To be considered a good dev you have to make 40-60 commits in 4 months, if you are in the bottom 20% you are PIP'ed or managed out. I feel there are so many problems with weaponizing analytics like these. It's anti agile and goes against development best practices there's also so many good study's against weaponizing metrics this way. TC: 125k
Which org this is used?
JP Morgan
Exactly what some are doing, introducing defects and 40 commits later fixed lol
Lol this is dumb af
Exactly, I couldn't believe senior devs were pushing this... I was very dissapointed...
Clearly they don't think their engineers are very smart. I can't be the only one who would rig a from job to out empty commits every few hours during the business day.
Tell me about it, it's only commits to certain branches though.
When has that stopped anyone?
> 40-60 Does that mean making too many commits also bad?
Probably considered a super developer
Ridiculous
Lol, stop squashing your commits then
I've been on 3 teams in CIB, no manager has ever once asked me about or mentioned anything about commit count. I think your on a dud team.
Yea it's an LOB I didn't believe it myself until I saw the conference discussion. My jaw dropped, I wanted to stab myself in my ears.
My manager asked me to improve commits and hr pulling these reports last year.
Lol. Thank god they didn’t say, they ll reward the number 1 contributor from githubs ranking of contributors :D
Lmao, I would win with all the broken pieces of code I commit.

That's a nice way of saying it, I couldn't believe I was hearing this or looking at these metrics. I was like is everyone seeing this, am I getting punked?!
