I’m a PhD CS International student. I just got an offer into JPMorgan Chase AI/Data Science Summer Associate Internship program (Plano Texas). I’m also waiting for a feedback from Intuit Data Science Internship final round interview (San Diego). Please I’ll love to hear your thoughts on these two programs especially what to expect. I’m looking for a place where i can do more ML, good working culture/WLB, conversion to full time after internship, H1-B/GC sponsorship. Also ease of switching to better opportunities in future when I get better at leet coding. JPM TC: $115k base $2.5k for relocation Intuit TC: $60/hr $2k for relocation plus #tech Company housing provided.
I'd go to Intuit because San Diego. However, you should try to compare the projects too
Intuit. Intern experience would be a lot more relevant for a tech career. Jp - only if you are interested in getting into the financial sector. Also the onboarding and interning is very hands on, at Intuit. I don't know about AI/ML - I don't work in that space. Most importantly- people are nicer and more willing to help in Intuit.
Thanks for your input. Can I DM you and ask more questions?
Sure
Intuit. There are some pretty fun AI /ML projects ongoing.
Can I DM you to ask a few questions?
Sure
Intuit May be . Not sure within chase the ml is well established yet
Thanks
Internship depends on the mentor. Do you have an idea of the projects in both places and which one is more interesting to you?
I don’t have an idea yet. But i know I’ll be working with the CCB risk modelling team. Should I ask the recruiter for details?
Yes. Try to connect with mentors from both companies and figure out which one is a better fit for you.
Work anywhere but JPMC
Work anywhere but Intuit
No. Work anywhere but JPMC.
Please can you share your reservations?
Intuit, JPMC is having less WLB with lots of people on the cusp of leaving after bonus payout this year. Lots of negative experiences and many EDs and MDs are leaving (or have left). AI/ML is also still a generally new field for JPMC, so the work may feel less fulfilling. San Diego also has great weather year round, despite a higher cost of living.
Thanks for your insight
Hey have you made your decision yet?
No I haven’t. But it seems like most advise tends towards Intuit
No worry. Ultimately it is up to what you want to learn and which industry you want to grow in.
Intuit.
Thanks for your answer. Please can you share your reasons?
