Posting for a friend:
I recently interviewed with Nextdoor and got a verbal offer. After getting the verbal offer, I got a chance to speak with the leadership and when I asked ARR, IPO plans, current runway, bonus and option refreshers, etc, I didn’t get any clear answers and I was told that I’ll get the exact answers once I join them. They weren’t transparent enough and hence I’m not sure what to make of it.
Hence I’m wondering if Nextdoor is transparent with their employees during the All Hand meetings? Also, what do you think about the company’s future? I have read several other posts/comments from Nextdoor employees and they seem bullish about the future prospect but I’m afraid that the company isn’t transparent with the prospective employee. Finally, what numbers should I expect to receive? I have ongoing interviews with Roblox, Uber, Patreon, Amazon and FB. So should I keep interviewing with these companies or I should accept the offer from Nextdoor?

> if Nextdoor is transparent with their employees during the All Hand meetings
Very much so. We get lots of clarity between the all hands, weekly emails, and access to the board decks.
> what do you think about the company’s future?
They're good but it's not going to be just smooth sailing. There's a lot to still do and grow.
> Finally, what numbers should I expect to receive?
We're going to be competitive but on the lower end of the spectrum. That's just a fact of our size compared to those large public companies.
> I should accept the offer from Nextdoor?
Depends on what you're looking for. If you want to do cutting edge stuff go to a bigger company but if you want to make meaningful impacts to the business go to a smaller company.
IPO knowledge is only known at the exec level and their relevant finance/lawyer teams.
Compensation isn't really transparent between employees and not talked about enough at ND, though I think that's going to be the case at a lot of companies. We don't get bonuses, we get option refreshers.
Hope this helps.
Join Nextdoor for the mission and values, don't join Nextdoor if you want to maximize TC. Roblox/Uber don't seem that hot either since they're post-IPO. Patreon sounds interesting though!
