Let go from back office controller role at Macquarie (Investment Bank) today with no real reasoning. I was the newest on the team. They’re paying me out to the end of the year. Not really sure on what to do, because I always try and do my best on a daily basis. I know it’s corny, but true. Never been let go before. Keep pressing forward. Taking the day before reaching out to contacts at other banks and recruiters. In Frankfurt or SE USA.
Lot’s of people were let go around that time. There were at least 3 rounds of firings that I knew of. Business was not doing well. Because everyone was remote, they didn’t say anything. People just noticed other people were missing.
TC and YOE? Also can you explain a little about what your role involved in general? Also sorry to hear about what happened. I think there are many IBs that will hire with your skill set.
I appreciate that. I’m in the SE, LCOL. I was going to clear about $100K all in. I’m 3 years out of school. Mainly month end closes, heavy Financial Controller work. Ran the books for their commodities business.
I see, I've looked into Macquarie a few weeks back for alternative roles and I had seen quite a few negative reviews regarding salary and other benefits in comparison to their competitors. This is likely a welcome change that will be positive for you in many ways.
