So the recruiters at JF ask you to sign a document which says that they will be representing me. Which means they might even negotiate my salary. This is even before submitting the resume. This is something new to me. - Is this common practice? - If I sign such document, is there any pit falls that ppl have usually faced? This just seems unusual that some 3rd will take control of all aspects of my side of the process.
Sounds odd... also why even go through an agency recruiter now days?

The recruiters at Jefferson Frank will always try to get you the most money on base salary, bonus and benefits. They usually charge the clients 20% fee of your salary. They always will try and get you the most money and are a keen in doing so. For example, $150,000 on base salary with 20% fee is $30,000 fee to client. They are good recruiters and know what they are doing. Your salary is based on their commission fee so they want to maximize your salary.
Seems like you guys don't trust ur clients or the candidates. A second recruiter from Jefferson contacted me asking me to either send him a word copy of resume or take out my contact info from there. Above all I don't want some else to negotiate on my behalf unless I approached you to do so. How better you can negotiate is subjective, so stop this nonsense.
