Is Dropbox interview really as difficult as some people make of it? How does it compare to G/F?
word on the street is they have a much smaller question bank. when I interviewed there by generic prepping, it was comparable to interviews elsewhere
Got offer from there, was not difficult. Google was much harder. Great company though. Keep hearing how well they treat their employees.
I don't think Dropbox has a great brand value, atleast it's debatable. I no longer use dropbox and know a lot folks who don't either. Use cases may vary but there's a reason why D is not a tier 1 company like faang.
I used to be at Amazon for a long time. I think there a lot of good people at Amazon but they are the minority. The average Dropboxer >> average Amazonian.
Ya that’s because dbx engg headcount is probably around 5% of amazon. Easy to maintain quality when you have 1k engineers. Much harder doing it with 40-50k engineers. Only google has cracked that code..
I think Dropbox is highly over valued. Box is valued at 3B and it’s more prevalent in enterprise. Don’t understand how Dropbox is worth 3x that..
Check public financial data on both companies. DBX revenue for 2017 was 3x of Box. DBX EBITDA was 67 million, while box lost 115 million and keeps losing money.
I had an on-site recently and it was fairly easy. Much easier than Facebook.
It might be easier it might be harder. Most of the time this just comes down to luck based on what question they pick. Some interviewers like asking hard as fuck questions. But on average it's probably going to be slightly easier.
Got an offer from G and Drobpox, I'd say their interview difficulties we're about the same. G was more focused on algos and data structures than Dropbox was though. Both were harder than FB
Mind sharing db offer and yoe? I am expecting an offer from them.
No concrete numbers yet but IC2 band. 215-235k TC is what the recruiter said 2 years relevant experience. Did a year in a "software" company prior but idk if it counts cuz I was just copy pasting code
Yes, it really is that difficult. Tbh I’m not sure why it’s not considered a tier 1 company, considering it has good brand value because the interview is so difficult, the pay is really good, and they have the best free food.
How does the pay compare to fb and google? Does a sr make $350k/yr?
Yes, IC3’s often make 350k+ TC.
