I was applying for a job recently, and as soon as I entered my email address, they got my picture. They even added, "We've added a profile picture to your application" on the website. The picture was an old Facebook profile picture, but I am curious how these guys got it! Is there an API which helps these guys? What else might they have captured and stored? Ideas? Concerns? Meh? Try this out (https://onfido.workable.com/jobs/847682/candidates/new) if curious.

Welcome to USA, where people pretty much make a livelihood by poking each other in the ass.
Just tried it's pulling mine from g+ profile which is public...since I used gmail that's an easy one to pull
What you did was reasonable but, it's a lot of time and effort to keep following up with this crap and to be careful. I've given up long ago. Use my name or anything shitass Google
Yay no picture for me!
I question why do they need your picture to determine if you are a fit for a job? This is opening a door for discrimination lawsuits...
In China, and maybe other east Asian countries, you have to attach a face shot to job applications or university applications. But what's to stop someone from using a random good looking picture?
I am assuming discrimination is not a problem in China since basically everyone in China is chinese...
It's probably using something like Gravatar. There are lots of services that associate a public email address to a public profile picture. That said, for legal reasons, it's a terrible idea to explicitly attach a photo to a resume. That's a discrimination lawsuit waiting to happen.

Most people are unaware of this but everything about American residents are collected and sold by certain companies. Anonymity is dead. You can look up absolutely anyone including the president and get their latest address, phone number, partial social security. Ever wonder how your university still manages to contact you at your latest address and phone number soliciting donations even though you didn’t update them?
