How bad is it really to job hop? I graduated in 2017 and I’m in my second role outside of school. My first team got disbanded due to a reorg and although I was offered a different role at the firm, I jumped ship. Been in my current position for about 7 months. I don’t feel that I’m learning anything and am constantly bored, looking for things to do. I’m thinking about looking for my next gig but don’t want to be perceived as a job hopper. Any advice?
If you job hop too much, it may look bad. People might start asking why. But you are far from that point right now, hop and enjoy the sweet taste of new TC
Hop. You hear me? Hop. Don't be like me, who has never hopped in 20 years and whose salary has risen about as many percent. HOP!
Wait for a few months to complete 1year. Sharpen your saw in the meantime. Read books. May I suggest "7 habit of highly effective people"?
Im on job 4 since 2015. No ill effects
What do you tell the recruiters?
You can job hop without issues these days unless you got a whole bunch of them where you aren’t even completing 1 year
If you don’t hop you may stagnate and then not be able to hop. Real problem.
I hopped a lot in my earlier years. Interviews did ask me about that in a negative way. Pl try to stick to a job for at least 3 years
