Got a job offer in eastern Connecticut for an SRE role @120k base 10% bonus (current pay is 100k base 15% bonus) Cost of living is reasonable where I'm located now. I've got an updated 2200 squarefoot home on an acre of land. Mortgage is only 1600 a month. Do you guys think it's smart to take this 120k job or talk to the Facebook recruiter that recently reached out (if I moved that way I'd have to sell or rent out my current house). Facebook sounds exciting but the cost of living in the Bay area seems insane. And I'm not sure if the bump in pay would increase or even keep the same my standard of living. -Edit- no offer or anything from Facebook I only just started talking to them. Just trying to get a feel if it's worth it financially.
If you’re in the Bay Area, you’ve got a million employment options. What’s plan B in Connecticut?
Plan B: move to bay area
How old are you? As a young person without kids I'd take FB in a heartbeat; Connecticut will always be there for later when you want to settle down
