Job prospects for final year of STEM OPT/H1b (not selected in lottery at final attempt)
I'm currently on F1 STEM OPT which expires in February 2022. This year was my third and final attempt at H1b and my application wasn't picked in the lottery. After having a discussion with my manager I learned that L1 isn't an option at the moment. I'm also not hopeful for a momentary international transfer to either Canada or India while the immigration team applies for my H1 in March 2022 (this is under an assumption that my application would be picked in the next lottery).
Since I have around 10 months from now I don't want to consider Day 1 CPT yet. I'm waiting to hear from my management on the available options for me.
I, however, decided to start interviewing at other companies but have a few questions from the recruiter and team point of view.
1. Would companies (FAANG) be willing to send out offers in such a case when the candidate has around 7-8 months left on the STEM OPT (considering I actively start interviewing in 2 months).
2. Would a team (in the new company) retain the candidate with few months left on expiry?
3. Would the new company be willing for a momentary transfer in my case and re-apply H1b?
Could someone please help with this? What other options do I have?
