Who are the best/highest paying companies here? I know of several: Cisco IBM Red Hat Lenovo Fidelity Credit Suisse Edit: Adding from posts: Citrix SAS Specialized satellite offices: Microsoft Oracle NVIDIA Google Does anyone else have any other bigger company names with a presence? Keeping an eye on the local market. What’s your thoughts on who pays the most? Thanks!
Citrix, SAS. Some smaller presences include Microsoft, Oracle, NVIDIA. Google has a Chapel Hill office but it’s tiny, and very specialized (graphics if I’m not mistaken)
Got it. I knew Google had one, but every time I look it’s like hiring for Fiber or something weird. Thanks for your post!
Yea there’s a lot of Fiber jobs right now. Occasionally there will be a SWE position for like Chrome/graphic, but recruiters will tell you it’s a super tiny office so best to look at a larger metro.
What’s your major or area of expertise?
Digital/data science/engineering/scalable systems

Have worked for them before — hard pass on my end. BoA is in Charlotte, too. I was looking for just RTP area companies
Apple
Apple isn’t here in any facet, unless you’re at the mall
They’re building a new huge Camus that’s what I meant
If you want recognized names, you’ve named them. But we also have a small Splunk office, GE Aviation, and this company down the street from us called BioGen pays crazy $$$ for tech roles, despite tech not being their bread and butter. ——- People put down telcos but SWE and UX design positions have a lot of autonomy and salaries more than comfortable (ESPECIALLY in RTP with lower cost of living than the Bay Area)
Not really interested in just recognized names, but those that pay a lot. It’s worth exploring their roles
MetLife. 2k capacity tech campus in cary.
Nutanix, Honeywell and credit karma 🙂
For what kind of role?
I have been flying to and from Raleigh before covid-19 as my wife is working in Microsoft. Just wondering if any one can offer a referral in any of the Robotics companies? Thanks
What domain? The list above is across varied services.
Anything development really. Not like someone can’t pivot if they don’t want to. I’m more data engineering/back-end, but have thought of maybe pursuing a pure SWE role in the future. Thanks for your post!
