Joining Apple through acquisition expectations: TC bump or flat?

My group was acquired by Apple. Wondering what to expect from the offer when joining through an acquisition. Assumption: Intel’s (or just mine?) salaries are (significantly) lower than the equivalent @Apple. Should I expect to be offered basically the same TC, or to be bumped up to Apple averages? Is it bad form/pointless to negotiate considering we’re joining by acquisition? Sign-on bonus expected or nah? If I had to guess, we’ll be offered the same TC and there will be a culling in <1 year. Everyone left will be bumped up the following review cycle.

San Diego. I heard SC/Bangalore got bumps (which is expected since they interviewed).

If they want to keep people (and presumably they do or could’ve just purchased IP and not bothered with the group) they would bring you up to Apple typical, keeping in mind in adjustment for San Diego versus SV. Why? Because people are going to get pissed off over time if they don’t. If people are planning on leaving then they will offer retention bonuses, otherwise, why should they? You may be right about the timing. It might be before the review cycle at some calendar date like acquisition plus 3 month , 6 months etc while they do the bookkeeping end of the absorption. Might be first of the year or something like that

I don’t think there would be any harm in trying to negotiate. But generally Apple corporate tries to be pretty thrifty

Unlikely that they’d give a hike. For those that are pissed and want to leave, they probably don’t care as much and would maybe offer retention bonus to only those they think are worth it. My guess is that they ll be strict with the focals so they weed out the bad ones organically over the next couple of years. Also, I wouldn’t be surprised if they have access to focals of the past few years and more importantly, ass licking bosses that divulge too much to be in Apple’s good books.

Option 1 layoffs with a few remaining to get increase while picking up the slack of those who are gone. Option 2 Salaries are the same.

I'm guessing you are part of the modem team? Why not try getting offers at Samsung/Qualcomm etc?
