How common is it in european (branches) companies especially big ones (bloomberg, fb, google, booking, etc) to give joining bonus?
Zero to very little, and then it will be taxed so much that it doesn't matter how small it was
It’s not unheard of in tech, but rare. In my limited experience they matched the anticipated end of year bonus at previous non tech company. It’s not a thing in my experience in finance. Although I have had ‘full year’ bonuses being offered even after only working for a month or two. Eg join in November and get a full year bonus in January.
It depends, I was offered one month salary as joining bonus
Managerial or SWE? How did you negotiate (did you have others offers aligned?)
It am backend dev. I didn’t have other offers. It was a fast loop and everything went well. I didn’t ask for it as well:), I didn’t know that I could negotiate it.
