Is it more rewarding for your career and growth, to join a FAANG company like Google at a senior level, after having several years of experience, outside, or is it better to get in as a fresher/junior developer and then rise up? I have seen people who have got into Google and then quit after a few years, without making any significant advances, while it may be easier for candidates without any prior Google experience to apply for senior positions.
Junior. Highly recommended.
The bar for coming at a senior level or above is also much much higher.
Most of the new grads / juniors will strongly disagree with this. The bar is uniform. You not being a new grad or a junior will always feel that the bar is lower at that point. The only thing which gets added is system design and obviously with experience its a given that you need to know that well. The coding interviews remain the same maybe somewhat less harder for seniors than juniors I would say. Also the number of people competing for junior levels is exponentially higher than at senior levels.
I think the coding problems get harder too.
Join now. In 5 years there will be new FAANG.

Avoid teams with only Chinese or Indians especially with a Chinese/Indian manager
Definitely junior. U can apply to google with 10 YOE and still get L4. But if u join as a new grad, youโll most likely be L5 within 5 YOE.
