Resume and LinkedIn profession writing needed

Jan 4 4 Comments

I am looking for some good recommendations for resume and LinkedIn profile update that does not break a bank 😬. It looks like it’s impossible to get an interview without gaming RTS and LinkedIn.

    1. You want to keep your LinkedIn same as Resume to minimize the work however if you feel, you can keep them different.

    2. Start with your resume, keep a Skill/Accomplishment section on page 1 and highlight 1 Skill per bullet with an example of your accomplishment in terms of results, numbers always help.

    3. For each past/present job, highlight your accomplishments with or without reference to skills to keep it crisp. Again, Numbers or Impact matters and helps, so highlight those.

    4. Full resume should be max 2 pages.

    5. You can use everything from the resume on your linkedin as it is if you like.

    6. For LinkedIn, create a good highlight section and featured posts for yourself, look around on Linkedin to find out which people have more engagements and which posts drive engagements to get an idea. It will help your profile get noticed.

    7. Note down most important Skills that you have, 1 at a time and make sure those are important for your next job as well, coz that’s where it matters and not in the past.

    8. Ask your connections to provide skill endorsements and recommendations, you can look up similar requests from your connections to find an easy way to do it. keep a target like 5 recommendations minimum and 20-25 skill endorsements for top skills. More the merrier.

    9. Have patience coz not everyone on LinkedIn is going to respond or help however there will be some who will help and that’s all that matters, You can ignore others who don’t respond, they are probably not even looking or don’t know you well enough or don’t care and that’s fine.

    10. Do skill endorsements and recommendations for your connections as well coz that helps them return the favor.

Overall, these things can help get you noticed and open doors for interviews, that’s when your real skills will come handy so make sure whatever your write on your resume/Linkedin, you are able to prove it.

    All the Best!

    • Thank you for the suggestions. I will try implementing these. I have cleared 4 interviews with mid tier companies but sponsorship is a pain. Any plan in FAANG companies is blocked by ATS it seems 😭
