FICO from credit card or bank is moderately close to the mortgage score. Credit karma is known to be wildly inaccurate.

Get a real my fico report with all three real mortgage scores. Don't leave this to chance with fake scores from credit karma. Sites like that are really good for alerts and monitoring for free, but ignore the score.

A house, two cars, and a refi in the last five years all from different lenders, local and national. Zero used the Vantage score. It's a guess but not useful.

When I bought my house, my credit score was within ten points of what CK showed.

  • The scores are directionally correct and useful for monitoring. As other have said, FICO score is more important. For most people Vantage and FICO will be very close. Others on this thread are wrong that they’re “often” very different.

No. They use slightly different algorithm. But the overall range and trend are usually accurate.
Besides, the 3 credit bureaus all have different scores (because they each has different data points)
You can get report (and score, with a fee) from bureaus directly via https://www.annualcreditreport.com/index.action
