I've been at Google for 1.5 years and my experience has not been that great. My team merged with another right before I joined, and the main part of the team is in another city, 3 hours behind. This resulted in me not having good leadership, clear goals, and mainly much work to do. I've been moved around the smaller teams within the larger team a lot. Most of our stand-ups consist of people saying what they're working on without anyone really working in the same areas. I'm always struggling to find work and have not had opportunities to design. I basically feel that I have not grown as an engineer at all.

My manager had a path for me to get promoted in December, so I was sticking it out and hoping to move after getting promoted. Now my manager is saying December promo doesn't seem likely, and I will likely have to wait till June. I'm incredibly frustrated and want to get out asap.

I see my options as moving to another team within Google or trying to find a position at another company. The former will be easier and I can probably get promoted earlier than I would at another company (I think). The latter would be harder but I'm hoping to take advantage of FBs ramping up of hiring; they have reached out to me. I'd expect more money, but I would probably get promoted later.

What do you think? Any and all advice is appreciated.
